Taste of the West: Helen Rawlings of Great Ashley Farm was delighted this week when she received the Bronze Award in the bed and breakfast category of the Taste of the West Food and Drinks Awards 2004 in Wiltshire.

The taste of the West Food and Drinks Awards were established over 10 years ago to recognise regional food of the highest quality and those establishments committed to serving West Country produce to their guests.

Amongst the favourites on the breakfast menu at Great Ashley Farm are oven baked savoury muffins topped with grilled tomatoes, locally produced  grilled bacon, poached eggs fresh from the farm and melted cheese from cheddar.

Silver Award for Serviced Accommodation: At Great Ashley Farm you are guaranteed quality and high standards of bedrooms and bathrooms, cleanliness and efficiency of service. Not only are we rated by the English Tourism Council with 4 diamonds but we have been granted the English Tourism Councils the Silver Award For Guest Accommodation.

Real Bath Breakfast Award: Great Ashley farm are delighted to have been accredited with The Real Bath Breakfast Award another of Bath innovations - this simply means that you can be sure that ingredients have been produced by local farms, families and individuals. Tea and Coffee are Fairtrade products. The fairtrade mark guarantees that third world producers receive a fairdeal for their product.

Wiltshire breakfast Award: There’s no better way to start the day than by enjoying a Wiltshire breakfast. The Wiltshire Breakfast Award ensures that you’ll be served a tasty feast at Great Ashley Farm of wholesome ingredients sourced from local suppliers.

Green Tourism Initiative: Here at Great Ashley Farm we are trying to consider the environment whilst still operating in a friendly, comfortable and efficient way.

Some of our green actions, such as low energy lighting will be obvious, others not so visible to you:-

  • We try our utmost to support the local economy by buying locally produced goods, thus cutting down on food mileage and supplying our guests with the quality they deserve. Most local food contain fewer chemicals and many are organic.
  • Shorter Journeys Mean Fresher Foods
  • We try to reduce packaging waste and recycle where possible.
  • We try to reduce our use of chemical cleaning products.

Welcome Host Award: At Great Ashley Farm we are pleased to have been granted the Welcome Host Award – Guaranteeing Quality and Service to our Guests

Fairtrade: At Great Ashley Farm we are proud to offer our guest FairTrade beverages. Fairtrade does what it says on the label; it guarantees a better deal to producers in the developing world.

  • This means a stable price which covers their production costs, along with a premium that their organisation will be able to reinvest either in the business or social and environmental schemes among the wider community.
  • Too many farmers in the developing world have to contend with fluctuating prices that may not even cover what it costs to produce their crop.
  • So Fairtrade can make a big impact on their day-to-day life. And on their future and that of their family.
